FAQs
Simple answers to the questions homeowners ask most.
Air conditioning is often associated with summer, so it is completely normal to have questions about heating, running costs, noise and how an installation works.
Can air conditioning really heat my home?
Yes. Modern reverse-cycle systems work as air-to-air heat pumps. In cooling mode they move heat out of the room; in heating mode the process reverses and heat is moved into the room.
Is it only worth having for summer?
No. A major benefit of a modern split system is that it can provide both cooling and heating. Many homeowners use heating mode during colder months as well as cooling during warm weather.
Is air conditioning suitable for bedrooms?
Yes. Modern residential units can operate very quietly. Correct sizing and sensible positioning are especially important in bedrooms, which is something we consider during the survey.
Can one outdoor unit serve several rooms?
In many properties, yes. Multi-split systems can connect several indoor units to a single outdoor unit, although the right arrangement depends on room sizes, pipe routes and how you intend to use each space.
Will the installation look intrusive?
Our aim is to keep installations as neat as practical. We consider indoor-unit position, external pipe routes and outdoor-unit location before work starts so the finished result sits naturally with the property.
How energy efficient is heating mode?
Air-to-air heat pumps move existing heat rather than creating heat directly in the same way as a resistance heater. Actual efficiency varies with the system, outside temperature, room conditions and how it is used.
Do you install in commercial properties?
No. Chilli is intended to be an exclusively residential installer serving homes on the Isle of Wight.
Which areas of the Isle of Wight do you cover?
The site is written around island-wide residential coverage. You can refine this answer later if there are specific towns or areas you do or do not want to serve.
What happens after I request a quote?
A typical process would be an initial conversation, a home survey where required, discussion of suitable systems and unit locations, followed by a written quotation. This wording can be adjusted once your exact sales process is confirmed.
